Septic Pumping

A septic tank is generally considered a self-cleaning system. Bacteria naturally break down the organic matter in the tank and slows the production of the scum layer.

Overuse of household chemicals used for cleaning will disrupt the beneficial bacteria causing the system to weaken and the scum layer in the tank will eventually become too thick and clog the outlet pipe to the drain field.  When this occurs it is time for your septic tank to be pumped.

It is recommended for a septic system to be pumped every 3 – 5 years for maintenance rather than waiting until you have an emergency.  Often homeowners will not recognize the signs of a septic tank back up until it is too late.  Call Abbotts’ Construction today to get a free estimate to pump your septic tank.
